Homeblanking—
What the Hell is all this?

Being a lifestyle blogger gives a lot of leeway—I don’t have to be quite as focused as a food blogger, or a parenting blogger. Of course I want to touch on both of those subjects; but the natural homeschool lifestyle around them is the garden I am trying to cultivate, ova ‘ere.

Fill in the blank

home(make), home(learn), home(grow)—the point is—fill in the blank; make it a part of your own unique domain.

Don’t get me wrong, I want to write about light topics too: gluten free food, organic living, homeschooling—but it all has a point.

Our lives started getting healthier and happier when we made the organic switch, and we did it dirt poor, moving around often, living with family, sometimes on food stamps.

My husband and I switched styles of schools fairly often as kids—public school was never going to be an option. We just sort of transitioned from our eldest going to daycare while I worked there, to me at home doing home preschool.

She’s now going into 1st/2nd (January birthday), our middle going into Prek/K, and the baby going from waddler to todd!

I’ve got some ‘splainin to do….

In short, we have done some really hard shit in the last 7 years or so. And now I need to share some things I have learned. Organic on a *teeny* budget, homeschooling for free for years. We’ve been increasing personal sustainability, and managing our multi-ethnic family and homeschool in turbulent times. We have learned so much.

And some of it is so strange I have to double-check its real.

The Weird, The Bad, and the Unearthly

This blog is my brain dump—a weird mind map—yes, my red-string wall.

Some of the weirdness happened slowly—reading about organics lead to herbalism, leading to ancient healing, leading to hidden history. That lead to the realization that the school system is an indoctrinating system, which targets children in different ways. I am mixed race (and mixed ethnicity); my husband is from a Messianic Jewish home. We determined being in charge of our children’s education was the best way to truly celebrate all of our differences and values

Considering how the school year 2020 went, we are glad to feel more in control.

Some weirdness was almost dropped in my lap! One minute you’re listening to the Beatles and the next you see a 19th century magician leering from the back row of Sergeant Pepper’s. I tend to read firsthand sources (including government documents) and boy howdy, I’m excited to share some of that too.

I swear it isn’t that scary!

So why care? Why give a crap about how crazy everything is? Why check out this farm-wanting make-up loving conspiracy-nut homeschool-foodie? (Did I get them all?)

Because like that mind-mapping string wall, it really does all connect. And to either consent to or reject these connections, we have to at least be aware of them!

In these times where a lot of us are living day-to-day, either physically or emotionally, truth and knowledge are becoming a commodity.

I hope to use the knowledge I have gained to make your life weirder and cheekier. Maybe a little easier. Maybe to help propel changes in your life you have been seeking.

Woodworking, mysticism, barbeque?

Whatever you home(do)—comment with a subject you enjoy exploring just for you and your home!
