about me.

I’m Kellan, a homemaker and jill-of-some-trades. After some college and working for years in both food service and childcare, I chose to stay at home teaching our family of 3 kids, and eventually sharing what I have learned for myself. The new skills and mindsets I have learned from other bloggers is invaluable! I want to pay forward whatever randomness I have encountered and expand this community of lifetime learners.

Being a product of both private and public education, homeschooling has left an indelible impression on both my husband and myself. We want our kids to lead their learning, be allowed to have deep interests, and we see a lot of value in community-based learning.

How I got here (the short version)

This project really started in 2013 with a hell of a bang. After I had my first daughter, alongside a massive medical crisis leading to a TBI (traumatic brain injury) I had what I consider a “reset”.

Over the next few years, I binged on reading—Historical documents, manuscripts from Biblical to magickal. Mental health to livestock guides, and every free printable I can store! Learning became spiritually satisfying; an urgent desire.

Now I want to help you! Personally, I took nearly a decade of trial and error to reach this level of frugality and practical weirdness.

I wouldn’t want that for you!

I’m here to share what I didn’t know, and to share what I am learning every day.

So, what does that mean for you?

If you have ever needed to know:

  • Frugal ways to go organic (for all budgets!)
  • Historical reasons for opposition to the American public-school system
  • Ancient rituals and their contemporary cults
  • Disaster preparedness no matter your living situation
  • Multi-ethnic family life and homeschool
  • The current affairs and reflections on history
  • All sorts of crafting and DIY

In other words, when you want to learn something wonderful, or horrible, or endlessly useful—-here I am! Opt-in for updates as I start the hardest bit of the journey—sharing it with the world!
